On 16 September 2022, a workshop titled “National Plan for Implementation of the Glasgow Declaration on Forest and Land use for the period of 2022 – 2030″ chaired by the Vietnam Administration of Forestry (VN-FOREST) and co-chaired by GIZ, was held in Hanoi. It was attended by about 50 stakeholders from sub-departments under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), VN-FOREST and international partners such as UNDP, CIFOR, FAO, JICA, EU, SNV, etc.
The purpose of this workshop was to prepare a huge national consultation on the draft which is supposed to be held by beginning of October. Specifically, the workshop served the following objectives: (i) to present the Draft of National Plan for Implementation of the Glasgow Declaration on Forest and Land use, (ii) to share with Vietnam the lessons learned of other countries on development and implementation of the Glasgow Declaration, (iii) to consult and discuss the final Glasgow National Plan on Forest and Land use with related stakeholders.
During the workshop, attendees shared their comments, opinions and suggestions to update and revise the Action Plan that will be expected to be finalised before the upcoming national consultation workshop. This event is scheduled to take place during the first week of October, and will introduce the Glasgow Action Plan on Forest and Land use to national stakeholders of forestry; representatives from line ministries, provinces; embassies; international partners, private sector, associations… The National Action Plan shall be completed and submitted to the Prime Minister by the end of 2022.
