Green Climate Fund approves USD 30.2 million towards climate-resilient development in Vietnam

The Green Climate Fund has just approved a project with funding of USD 30.2 million for a project entitled “Enhancing the resilience of small-scale agricultural production in the face of water insecurity due to climate change in the Central Highlands and South Central Coast region of Vietnam” (SACCR). Led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and supported by the UNDP, the project will be implemented over the next six years. More than 222,400 people in Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces will benefit directly from modernised irrigation systems, improved water security and livelihood options, increased knowledge of climate risks and resilient agricultural techniques, as well as access to localised climate advisories and market information.

SACCR is the third Green Climate Fund project in Vietnam after the projects “Scaling Up Energy Efficiency for Industrial Enterprises in Vietnam” and “Improving the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities to climate change related impacts in Vietnam”.
