On 15th May in Hanoi, an event on “State-of-the-art technologies to promote variable renewable energy (vRE) integration toward Clean Energy Transition” was hosted by the Energy Support Program (ESP), GIZ within the framework of the Vietnamese – German Energy Dialogue, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
The event covers 02 main parts, including a Workshop and a Showcasing exhibition with the participation of 12 domestic and international companies (Germany, Europe and Viet Nam).
The Workshop discussed 04 thematic topics including (1) Smart Grid and vRE integration technology; (2) Optimization solutions of Decentralized Energy Resources, E-mobility technology & ESS technology; (3) Technology to reutilize/transform fossil fuel-based power plants; and (4) Technology to reutilize/transform fossil fuel-based power comprehensive solutions for smart grid and integration of vRE.
Under these four umbrella topics, the participants shared knowledge and practical experiences in the latest technologies to support the optimal integration of vRE sources, promoted the transition toward clean energy, and realized the Net Zero goal by 2050 that Viet Nam committed at COP26.
According to a Siemens’ representative, enterprises should have a clear decarbonization roadmap, develop a system for resource efficiency to support the circular economy, enhance their infrastructure, and deploy innovative business models in accordance with the change and upgrade of the system.
Markus Bissel, a representative of the Vietnamese-German Energy Dialogue, highlighted the focus of the event on vRE integration, a critical topic in the energy transition scope. He emphasized the role of the private sector as a key driver of the energy transition and the need for continuous knowledge updates in the field, along with the establishment of a legal framework to support the transition.
The event was a dynamic forum for representatives from both public and private sectors in Viet Nam. This platform also facilitated discussions between domestic and international stakeholders on innovative ideas and the latest advancements in technology for vRE integration.
