Ho Chi Minh City has been selected as a pilot city for the NDC-TIA in Vietnam. The city’s investment in large-scale public transport infrastructure, such as the metro, and its existing cooperation with national leaders in electric mobility, made it the first choice for a pilot city under the NDC-TIA.
Through their cooperation, the HCMC People’s Committee and NDC-TIA implementing partners – GIZ and the WRI – will develop a detailed roadmap and action plan for electric mobility. International experience will serve as an input for national/city-level e-mobility roadmap development, scrutinizing best-practice from around the globe. However, local conditions will be decisive so the team will conduct a cost-benefit analysis and examine the power demand for electrifying the bus fleets to determine a pathway for implementing appropriate pilot activities.
With the support of the NDC-TIA, the city will outline a roadmap for advancing electric mobility along all transport modes to help tackle the climate crisis.
