International Climate Initiative (IKI) in Viet Nam

An assessment under the NDC-TIA project aims to identify the current context, challenges, and opportunities with regards to electric mobility development in order to develop and improve regulatory frameworks at both national and local levels. In addition, existing sustainable transport policies are reviewed to assess Viet Nam’s level of readiness to adopt electric mobility.

The assessment targets relevant policy makers, national, and local authorities as well as the private sector, NGOs, and the public to enhance awareness and knowledge on the necessity of climate-friendly mobility.

The assessment is expected to provide policy-makers with essential information to design regulatory frameworks and policies to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs). It is also designed to spark ideas among relevant enterprises and consumers on the investment and consumption of EVs in Viet Nam. NGOs can also use the assessment to gain insights on local issues and challenges in EV development and provide suitable support.

The NDC Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC-TIA) aims to promote a coherent strategy of effective policies to decarbonise transport co-ordinated among various sector ministries, civil society, and the private sector. The project is engaged in China, India and Vietnam from 2020-24.
